As we live in a busy, vibrant city, it is important that children know how to travel around safely. Our Junior Travel Ambassadors (JTAs) are responsible for promoting active travel and road safety.
Each year, JTAs are selected from our year 6 pupils and attend training in Holland Park to get to grips with their role and newfound responsibility. Over the year, they hold assemblies for the rest of the school, conduct surveys, give classroom talks, and help complete the school travel plan. They also run schemes, such as the ‘walk once a week’ initiative, which encourages both staff and pupils to reduce congestion in our local area by travelling by foot, bicycle or scooter.
Road Safety Week is a particularly important event for our ambassadors. During this week, they always plan special events such as walking buses and competitions to design high visibility jackets.
